Electric Yellow Cichlid

The Electric Yellow cichlid (Labidochromis Caeruleus) is a very beautiful African cichlid from the Lake Malawi. As you probably have figured, it has a bright yellow color. The Electric Yellow is a small rock-dwelling Malawi cichlid. You can find morphs where the yellow is completely replaced by a baby blue color.
The Electric Yellow cichlid has a pretty calm behavior and don’t try to hold territory as much as many other African cichlids. This is partly why the Electric Yellow has become one of the most popular cichlids. Even mouth brooding female won’t get harassed by the others.

Breeding Electric Yellow
This fish is a mouth brooder, but unlike other mouth brooder the female is not stressed by the others in the group. Instead it seems like the group guard and takes care of the mouth brooding female. As soon as the female spit out the fry its time to feed them with baby brine shrimp. Keep feeding them for a month or two until they can manage with regular food.
The Electric Yellow cichlid is a very nice fish to have in your aquarium and it will really “light up” your aquarium. Minimum aquarium for a small group of these should be 25 gallons. It likes hard water with high pH. They can live for up to 10 years and like their water to be around 75-79 degrees Fahrenheit. Feed them any cichlid flake food and vary with brine shrimp and other frozen or live food.
